Scrap Metal HAF932 Extended

HAF932 with Extended Bottom. Name: Scrap Metal 932EXT

GOAL: To make enough changes that you will ask yourself "that's a HAF932...I think"

The Plan: (after numerous idea changes)
1. Keep inside of case open as possible.
2. Hide all water cooling parts in custom bottom case.(15"w x 12'h tapering to 9")
3. Sleeve and hide as much wiring as possible.
4. Install NZXT fan controller, water temp and pair of 120mm fans and grill in front of bottom case.
5. Remove top fan grill (weld to front horizontally) and replace with metal and install rad grill and 3 120mm fans.
6. Weld up all unnecessary holes in MB tray.
7. Make access panel in bottom to WC compartment.
8. Relocate IO front panel to 5 1/2" drive bay.
9. Make a switch plate for On/Off,reset,HD activity and power.
10. Remove HD cage and cut down to hold only 2 drives (may completely remove)
11. Install Rads (360 and 240),pump, res and excess wiring in bottom case.
12. May use copper tubing to run water lines up the edge of MB tray.
13. Custom paint PSU, case inside and out. Color and paint scheme undecided at this time.
14. Install blue cold cathodes out of sight. Countersink two 8" in front behind strip grills.

I have officially gone from a completely toolless case to all tool case

First mod 10/03/2010
Move IO panel to drive bay.

Cut up and fit into place

Glued in place with SEM urethane bumper repair kit.

IO board glued in place

Positioning 8" cathodes

Prepping for the cut

Should look good lighting up the grill

Top lined out and cut, whole top will get new metal and 3x120 grill installed

Notch made for top cathode light

Inside look at front cathode and fan grill cutout

Top grill cutout will be welded to front horizontally on bottom case extension for a pair of 120's

And my high tech full scale drawings/template

If you look close you can see where it kicks out a little at bottom of case....because I actually used the case and traced around it.

Here I cut all the tooless tabs off and ground it smooth

Made a new plate to cover all the stamping holes. Instead of trying to measure all holes I place plate in position and used rattle can primer and sprayed through mounting holes on backside to mark the exact locations.

Here I removed the upper PSU mounts and I will use the rear hole for the 8 pin MB power.

My dremel on steroids!

First coat of primer ready to sand. Then I will apply a second and final coat.

Got some pant work done today. Went with a pure white base covered with white pearl and 3 coats clear.

Here is the paint scheme I think I will be going with.
The large single arch will have 1/8" candy red outline and black inside.
The double arch will have 1/8" candy blue outline and candy orange inside.
The small arch will be candy green with no outline.
I will also use one or two of them on the side panels.
Of course that's always subject to change...considering I was going to paint case blue and orange with similar stripes! LOL

---Note to self make sure paint is dry before touching with template!!!---
